OMZ JSC continues to move forward, introducing new technologies and increasing product competitiveness. Among the priority areas of activity is the preparation for the production of ball screw gears (ballscrews).

Alexander Shargunov, Deputy Technical Director for Technology, spoke about the stage of implementation of the project.

– Alexander Sergeevich, what is a ball screw?

– A ball screw transmission is a mechanism designed to convert rotational motion into translational motion. Imagine a simple nut with balls inside it. When the screw rotates, they move along the thread, ensuring smooth movement of the nut. Such transmissions are widely used in machine tools, robotics, and the automotive industry due to their reliability, durability, and high precision.

– What is the reason for the need to start production?

– The modern market is changing rapidly, sanctions restrictions have made adjustments to the work of many enterprises. All this requires drastic decisions. OMZ JSC strives to meet high quality standards and meet customers’ needs for reliable components. This new product will expand the product range and strengthen its position in the machine tool industry.

– How is the work on the project going?

– We are at the preparatory stage. The designers of the technology department designed three standard sizes of ballscrews out of the eight most in demand; the technologists determined the technological scheme of production, the preliminary composition of the equipment and its placement on the production site.

Contracts have been signed for the purchase of a part of the key equipment necessary for the production of ballscrews. The technical characteristics of the remaining units are consistent.

The estimated completion dates for the design work are the second or third quarter of this year.

– What prospects does this open up for the company?

– The launch of ball screw transmission production is an important stage of development. OMZ JSC will enter new markets by offering customers a high-quality product that meets international standards. This will open up additional opportunities for cooperation with large companies in the field of machine tools, robotics and mechanical engineering.

In addition, the introduction of such technologies helps to improve the skills of metallurgists.
