Kovrov Electromechanical Plant launches import substitution program with OMZ products

In the context of the need to ensure the technological independence of the machine tool industry, Kovrov Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ) has launched a new strategy for equipping equipment with domestic high-precision components. Omutninsky Metallurgical Plant (OMZ JSC), which offers linear rolling guides under the VOLTECH brand, has been chosen as a partner in this important area.

The first batch of Russian guides was delivered to the company in 2025. Currently, KEMZ specialists are conducting comprehensive bench and operational tests of the products obtained. The main purpose of the stage is to verify the declared characteristics: checking the accuracy of positioning, smooth running and resource resistance in real production cycles of the plant.

“It is critically important for us to make sure that domestic components are not inferior to previously used foreign analogues in all key parameters,” said representatives of the Kovrov Electromechanical Plant. — We are currently in the testing phase. Preliminary observations show the high potential of VOLTECH products.

The successful completion of this stage will open up strategic prospects for KEMZ. One of the plant’s priorities is to include machine tool products in the register of Russian industrial products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The use of certified Russian components, such as OMZ guides, is a prerequisite for confirming a high level of localization and obtaining the status of a domestic manufacturer.

The company’s plans go beyond a one-time purchase. The management of KEMZ is considering the possibility of concluding a long-term contract with Omutninsky Metallurgical Plant. Switching to a permanent supplier will allow the plant not only to stabilize production chains, but also to guarantee the fulfillment of orders.
